Students will be able to generate and revise interview questions for a real career guest by distinguishing a problem or information need from a solution.
Students will be able to record and interpret details from career interviews and diverse media to identify job duties, tools, education, and workplace expectations.
Students will be able to collaborate in discussions and role-play interviews by greeting guests respectfully, asking follow-up questions, listening actively, and building on peers’ ideas.
Students will be able to synthesize research into a career profile that explains duties, tools, education, strengths needed, and evidence of fit for one local job.

Local Career Research Portfolio and Personal Career Pitch Card
Each student creates an individual portfolio that includes interview question sets, note-catchers, exit tickets, and a revised career profile for one Imperial Valley job. The portfolio is paired with a one-page pitch card that explains the career, the evidence gathered, and whether it matches the student’s strengths and interests.
Career Spotlight Gallery Walk Display with Shared Problem Statement and Testable Prototype Board
Teams build a shared gallery-walk display that includes a class-generated career-fit question, a collaboratively refined how-might-we statement, and a higher-fidelity prototype board or service concept for supporting students to explore local careers. The display must show how individual research and interviews shaped the team solution and include a short presentation for authentic visitors.
