Students will launch the engineering project by analyzing steam engine images and stories from Powerland Heritage Park, identifying a community transportation problem, and sketching a first future vehicle idea that uses one steam-engine-inspired design feature.

Students will investigate how steam engine features created motion, gather ideas from community experts, and turn that research into a clear engineering design brief with a community need, measurable criteria, constraints, and evidence-based feature notes for a future vehicle.
Days 2 - 4
Build, Test & Revise
Build, Test & Revise
Students will compare future vehicle concepts, select a design with evidence, build and test a rapid prototype, analyze failures, revise their blueprint and model, and prepare concise evidence-based materials for the final showcase.
Days 5 - 7
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their tested future vehicle prototypes and evidence to families and community guests, explain how steam engine ideas shaped their design choices, and reflect on feedback and revision during Exhibition Night.
