Students take a brief campus or nearby site walk with a simple observation sheet to record direct evidence of human impact through sketches, tally marks, temperature-touch comparisons, and labeled notes. In small groups, they identify what was observed versus inferred, then start a project map with one evidence-based note, one social-emotional note, and one question about a site user’s needs. Teams share one possible problem area they may want to investigate in the next phase.
