Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to investigate how renewable energy sources reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support climate change mitigation.

2

Students will be able to analyze how solar, wind, and water energy technologies generate electricity and differ in efficiency, reliability, and environmental impact.

3

Students will be able to compare changes in energy use over time and identify patterns in the shift from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources.

4

Students will be able to design a focused investigation question about renewable energy or climate-friendly mobility that can be answered with evidence.

5

Students will be able to collect, document, and organize source notes or data on renewable energy systems, climate impacts, or climate-friendly mobility using a consistent method.

6

Students will be able to analyze patterns, anomalies, and limitations in energy-use or climate evidence and distinguish correlation from causation.

7

Students will be able to collaborate to justify a shared conclusion about the most effective renewable energy or mobility strategy for reducing climate impacts in cities.

Products

individual

Renewable Energy Investigation Notebook

Students maintain a research notebook that records their question, method choices, source notes or data tables, anomaly tracking, and individual analysis of renewable energy and climate-friendly mobility. The notebook shows how evidence supports or complicates the student's conclusion.

team

Formal Renewable Energy and Climate Action Investigation Report

Teams produce a formal report or presentation synthesizing each member's evidence into one warranted claim about energy transitions and climate action. The report must explain method choices, present visuals, address conflicting findings, and evaluate limitations before recommending a solution.
