🔍 Butterfly Needs Picture Plan

Using large picture cards of nectar flowers, leaves, puddles, sun, shade, rocks, and other habitat features, children help sort what might be food, water, or shelter and explain their thinking aloud. In pairs, they give feedback to 2 peers by listening for one idea that fits butterfly needs, then students revise their own drawing by adding or changing one habitat feature. The teacher records a class chart of what to look for during later observations, and each child makes a first notebook page drawing of a butterfly home idea.
