Students rotate in pairs through sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, and severe weather tables to dress a doll with matching clothing cards, choose one safety action card, and talk about what they notice. The class then gathers for a live window weather check, places the first weather card on a class chart, and directly compares two weather choices or gear sets using words such as more, less, or same. To close, partners give feedback to 2 peers about one clothing match or safety move, hear one suggestion back, and revise before sharing one class question about forecasts or severe weather.

Preparation (12 items)
- Set up 5 color-coded stations: sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, and severe weather.
- Place one cut-out doll or doll figure and matching clothing/gear cards at each station.
- Add one small visual label and picture cue at each station so nonreaders can match the weather type easily.
- Prepare severe weather safety action cards with simple pictures showing school-safe actions.
- Create a class weather chart with spaces for daily weather cards for the full week.
- Print or gather large weather cards for sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, and severe weather for whole-group use.
- Post an anchor chart with the comparison words more, less, and same with hand gestures or icons.
- Post an anchor chart with the question stem 'I wonder...' and picture supports for forecasts and safety.
- Preselect student pairs and note any support pairings for language, behavior, or motor needs.
- Clear a meeting area near a window or door for the live weather observation.
- Prepare a quick confidence check visual such as thumbs up/sideways/down or colored faces.
- Have a simple observation checklist ready to track who can identify weather, match clothing, choose a safety action, and explain a choice.
Student-facing instructions
You will work with a partner at weather stations. At each table, you will look at the weather picture, dress the doll with the clothing or gear that matches, and tell your partner why it fits. At the severe weather table, you will also choose one safety action card and show the safe move. Then you will join the class for a window weather check, help pick the first weather card for our chart, and use the words more, less, or same to compare two weather choices or gear sets. Last, you will show one clothing match or safety move to peers, listen to one suggestion, fix it if needed, and share one safety move or one weather question. You will use dolls, clothing cards, gear cards, safety cards, weather picture cards, and the class chart.
