Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to define measurable criteria and constraints for a sports court design in a real site.

2

Students will be able to construct geometric features of a sports court using compass-and-straightedge or digital geometry tools.

3

Students will be able to analyze area, perimeter, proportions, and scale factors for a sports court blueprint.

4

Students will be able to compare at least three court layout concepts using evidence and weighted trade-offs.

5

Students will be able to justify and communicate a revised final court blueprint using geometric reasoning and feedback.

Individual Sports Court Design Notebook with Decision Matrix and Scaled Sketches

Each student creates an engineering notebook showing at least three original court concepts, a weighted decision matrix, and a revised scaled sketch with calculations. The notebook proves individual mastery of geometry, measurement, and evidence-based design decisions.

team

Final Scaled Sports Court Blueprint and Gallery Walk Presentation Board

Teams produce a polished blueprint of the selected court design and a presentation board explaining the site fit, geometric constructions, calculations, trade-offs, and revisions based on critique. The final prototype-level design must reflect individual ideas, team selection, and a justified revision process.
