🧭 Symbolism Norms and Design Brief

With guidance from the teacher and a school counselor or, when appropriate, an Indigenous or community cultural leader, students discuss respectful approaches to symbolism, identity, and personal meaning. Students then review exemplar tessellations, identify how viewers might interpret repeated shapes and motifs, and draft a one-page design brief that names a possible spirit-animal direction, audience interpretation goal, and two assumptions to test in the next phase. Peers give feedback to 2 classmates, receive feedback, and revise their brief before submitting it as a milestone gate for moving into empathy research.
