🔎 Portrait Clue Coding Lab

Using 3 projected portraits from the Middle Ages and Rafael Sanzio, the class quickly reviews how color, clothing, pose, setting, facial expression, and composition can signal rank, belief, and identity. In small groups, students create a shared coding key with at least 4 categories and test it on one artwork by marking visible evidence, separating observation from inference, and noting one ambiguous detail. Then each student writes a focused investigable question and a testable hypothesis, swaps with 2 peers for a two-glow, one-grow feedback round, revises, and records a final method plan in the Portrait Investigation Notebook.
