🕯️ Illuminated Initial Sprint

Find inspiration and ideas Develop my craft Develop as a multilingual Submission Required Grading Required

Students study 3-4 illuminated manuscript images and use art vocabulary to note how contrast, symmetry, repetition, color, and symbolism affect meaning. They complete a short empathy map for a viewer and for themselves as the maker, then write a design brief and one How Might We statement for their own initial. Next they sketch 3 different thumbnail concepts, build 1 low-fidelity prototype on scrap paper, give feedback to 2 peers and receive feedback using sentence stems that may include a home language word or phrase, then revise into a labeled second iteration with 2-3 artist statement sentences.
