Students examine short excerpts and key event moments from "A Sound of Thunder" and "Being Prey" to build an evidence-based coding system for event order, character choice, consequence, and theme connection. In pairs, they test two possible methods for tracking causation, note anomalies where sequence does not equal cause, and draft a focused investigable question with a hypothesis about how plot decisions shape meaning.
