In small groups, students sort mixed event cards into a logical sequence, label each link as cause, effect, or simple sequence, and justify their choices aloud using plot vocabulary. Each group then sketches one rough storyboard frame for the scene they built on chart paper or a storyboard template, followed by a whole-class debrief comparing how different sequences change tension, character motivation, and theme. The teacher closes by introducing the 6–8 panel storyboard product, the mentor texts “A Sound of Thunder” and “Being Prey,” the gallery walk revision process, and the partner debrief students will complete later in the project.
