Students will investigate real classmates’ journaling and organization needs through direct interviews and observations, document evidence in structured empathy maps, and surface assumptions to prepare for defining a focused, user-centered problem.

Students will synthesize their classroom interview data into clear, user-centered problem statements that guide the design of their handmade recycled journals, grounding every decision in real evidence from classmates and teachers.

Students will generate a wide range of user-centered journal ideas, use structured creativity strategies to push beyond obvious solutions, evaluate concepts against real classmate needs, and produce annotated concept sketches that directly connect features to user evidence. Daily reflection circles will support critique, revision, and planning.

Students will build, test, and refine handmade journal prototypes using recycled materials and real user feedback. They will move from rapid low-fidelity mockups to more functional versions, document user testing evidence, participate in daily reflection circles, and prepare a revised prototype with a clear iteration log showing feedback-driven improvements.

Students will validate their refined handmade journal prototypes with new users, finalize math-based pricing decisions, and prepare and deliver a stakeholder presentation at the Marketplace Expo that clearly traces their design journey from user research to final product.
