The teacher models how to turn observations into investigable questions by using sentence frames, photos, and class anchor charts. Students compare possible questions about change over time, choose ones that can be answered with future sketches, counts, and audio notes, and sort them into can investigate or cannot investigate yet. Pairs then state a simple hypothesis such as what they think will change first or what pattern they expect to see.
