The teacher models how to use cubes, rulers, magnifiers, sketch boxes, and picture labels to document one plant stage and one animal stage with the same recording routine. Students practice naming observable parts, measuring length with standard units when appropriate, and deciding whether a feature shows what stayed the same or what changed. They add one measured sketch and one spoken observation to their Life Cycle Investigation Notebook.
