Using printed interview quotes, excerpts from Chains, and at least one primary source from the historical society, students practice turning raw quotes into insights. The teacher models how to move from a quote to an inferred need using a think-aloud and cause-and-effect language. Students annotate 3 quotes and write an insight statement for each in their design journal.
