In teams of three, students rotate through two fast mini-challenges: build the tallest free-standing tower and create a short marble ramp using an inclined plane. After each challenge, teams briefly discuss what collaboration moves helped or hurt their success. The class is introduced to the Essential Question: How can we use the engineering design process to create a marble maze that is challenging yet solvable?

Student-facing instructions
Your task is to work in teams of three to complete two mini-challenges: first to build the tallest free-standing LEGO tower and then to create a functional marble ramp using an inclined plane. Pay attention to how your team collaborates, and take notes on points of successful communication and problem-solving. At the end of each challenge, discuss within your group one success and one challenge, focusing on how your team worked together.
