Empathize
Students will launch their social justice action project by meeting real community members, practicing empathy-driven observation and interview skills, and creating a structured empathy map grounded in direct quotes and observations from at least two users to guide later problem definition.
Day 1
No activities have been added to this phase yet.
Define
Students will synthesize their community interviews and observations into a clear, evidence-based "How Might We" problem statement that names a specific user, need, and insight to guide their kindness action design.
Day 2
No activities have been added to this phase yet.
Ideate
Students will generate many different kindness action ideas grounded in real user needs, evaluate them using evidence from their empathy work, and create concept sketches showing how a real community member would experience their solution step by step.
Day 3
No activities have been added to this phase yet.
Prototype
Students will build and test low- and medium-fidelity prototypes of their kindness solutions, gather real user feedback, revise their ideas, and document how small changes improve impact—just as caring daily for a plant leads to visible growth.
Days 4 - 5
No activities have been added to this phase yet.
Test/Present
Students will validate their refined kindness prototypes with new community users, make final improvements based on real feedback, and present their full design journey—from empathy research to iteration—at the Growth Garden Fair and Community Celebration Day, demonstrating how small actions can lead to visible change.
Day 6
