Students will engage in interviews and surveys with community members, health professionals, and peers to gather insights into personal hygiene needs and safety concerns, fostering an empathetic understanding of their audience's perspectives to inform their upcoming projects.
Days 1 - 2
Define
Students will analyze their findings from the Body Systems Fair and community partner discussions, then create a clear, actionable problem statement outlining the essential components of a personal hygiene plan and its impact on health and safety, setting the foundation for their personal projects.
Days 3 - 4
Ideate
Students will brainstorm a variety of innovative personal health and safety solutions by creating concept sketches and storyboards, critically analyzing different approaches in small groups, and considering feedback from peers and community partners during ideation workshops.
Days 5 - 7
Prototype
Students will construct and test 3D models of the digestive system using everyday materials, while drafting personalized health and safety booklets, refining their hygiene plans and strategies for injury prevention through peer feedback and iterative improvement.
Days 8 - 11
Test/Present
Students will present their personal hygiene plans, 3D models of the digestive system, and safety booklets at the Health & Safety Expo, receiving feedback from community members and peers while reflecting on their learning journey and validating their solutions in real-world contexts.
