Duty of Care Defense

Teams present a formal defense of a central arguable question: to what extent does corporate duty of care apply to safeguarding adolescent mental health in the cases studied? They will deliver a 90–120 minute presentation to a panel of local professionals, including an attorney and a mental health advocate, and respond to challenges in real time. Presentations must demonstrate evidence-based reasoning: identify credible sources, evaluate their quality, anticipate counterarguments, and defend claims with a clear logical structure. After the defense, the panel will provide feedback and students will participate in a reflective discussion. A comprehensive written legal brief and a slide deck must be submitted, with sources properly cited. This assessment targets evidence-based argumentation and the integration of content expertise, collaboration, and effective communication.
