Students will conduct interviews and observational studies with elderly individuals and caregivers to gather insights on mobility and cognitive challenges, documenting their findings and reflecting on the impact of empathy in addressing real-world needs.

Students will analyze the needs of elderly individuals through interviews and research, then collaboratively synthesize their findings to formulate a precise, physics-informed problem statement that guides their assistive device design.

Students will engage in creative brainstorming sessions to generate diverse solution ideas for their assistive device prototype, drawing on physics concepts and empathetic insights gained from previous phases, and then visually organize and refine these ideas to identify feasible approaches that address the essential question.

Students will collaboratively construct and refine assistive device prototypes utilizing physics principles, engaging in peer critiques and applying iterative feedback, while documenting progress and insights in reflection journals.

Students will test their assistive device prototypes with elderly users, gather feedback, iterate their designs for enhanced functionality, and present their final solutions at the Innovator's Fair to demonstrate their application of physics principles and insights from the user-centered design process.
