Purpose

Craft a rock album that not only showcases your musical talent but also tells a cohesive story through its unifying theme. Explore your personal experiences and express them in your songs, using the dynamic sounds of acoustic and electric instruments. Through this project, develop your artistic voice and learn how to communicate deep messages effectively while engaging with peers and your community.

Learning goals

Develop a deep understanding of the songwriting and album production process, focusing on personal expression through musical composition. Explore sound modulation and layering techniques with both acoustic and electric instruments to create unique and engaging musical arrangements. Reflect on personal growth and the connection between song messages and personal experiences throughout the project. Collaborate with peers and community partners to enhance your work through feedback and shared experiences in music appreciation. Utilize technology to document your creative journey, showcasing progress from initial drafts through to final recordings in a digital portfolio.

Products

Create a cohesive rock album consisting of 5-9 original songs that highlight a unified message through diverse lyrical and melodic perspectives. Compile a digital portfolio showcasing the evolution of your songwriting, including initial drafts, peer feedback, and final recordings. Prepare a presentation for a 'Rock Album Release Party,' sharing your creative journey and the central theme of your album with an audience.

Launch

Start with a 'Melody Creation Lab' where you experiment with your acoustic and electric instruments to discover and create various sound combinations. Focus on crafting melodies that can serve as the foundation for your album's overarching theme. This hands-on session will spark creativity and set the tone for the songwriting and production process, allowing you to immediately immerse yourself in the artistic exploration of your project.

Exhibition

Plan and host a 'Rock Album Release Party' inviting classmates, teachers, and family. Arrange a listening session where attendees can hear your complete album and explore your songwriting journey via provided QR codes linked to your digital portfolio.
