Define Local Cultural Problem

Effective Communication Self Directed Learning Critical Thinking & Problem Solving Community Partners Essential Question Submission Required

Engage directly with at least two San Diego community members or small-business owners to uncover what makes a local spot culturally meaningful and how people experience it. Conduct short interviews to collect empathy artifacts (quotes, stories, photos, notes). Synthesize findings into a Point-of-View (POV) statement and How Might We (HMW) questions that frame the user need, develop one or two student personas representing audience roles, and draft a simple systems map (problem tree or influence map) showing factors shaping community appreciation and local business support. Test your POV/HMW with interviewees or a peer acting as a user and iterate briefly to refine your definitions. Deliver digital artifacts (POV, HMW, persona profile, and system map) uploaded to your portfolio and be prepared to discuss how these definitions will guide your video content in the next phase.
