Purpose

Your project will transform your original script into a captivating animation, fostering collaboration and creative engagement with peers and friends. By combining storytelling with animation, you will explore effective communication strategies and enhance your content expertise through practical application. This project will help you develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as you navigate the complexities of animation production, ensuring your story maintains its emotional impact and narrative integrity.

Learning goals

Animate your original script, gaining proficiency in animation software while integrating voice acting, audio splicing, and special effects. Collaborate with your peers to develop transferable skills in teamwork and leadership through shared decision-making and conflict resolution. Hone your communication abilities by presenting your animation, reflecting on feedback, and adapting your work accordingly. Apply critical thinking to creatively solve problems arising during the transformation of written work into a visual medium.

Competencies
  • Collaboration - Students co-design projects with peers, exercise shared-decision making, strengthen relational agency, resolve conflict, and assume leadership roles.
  • Effective Communication - Students practice listening to understand, communicating with empathy, and share their learning through exhibiting, presenting and reflecting on their work.
  • Content Expertise - Students develop key competencies, skills, and dispositions with ample opportunities to apply knowledge and engage in work that matters to them.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving - Students consider a variety of innovative approaches to address and understand complex questions that are authentic and important to their communities.

Products

Throughout your project, create a series of concept art and storyboards that depict the evolution of your original script into animation. Produce a dynamic animation combining voice acting, music, and special effects, which will be showcased in a classroom exhibition. Collaborate with your peers to finalize character designs and artwork styles, reflecting the story's emotional depth. Present snippets and trailers for critique, incorporating feedback to refine the animation's quality and impact. The culmination of your efforts will be a fully casted animation that embodies your narrative vision and connects audiences globally.

Launch

Begin your project by hosting a storyboard workshop where you and your team can brainstorm and visualize key sequences from your script. Set up collaborative online sessions with your friends acting as community partners to sketch initial concept art and develop early ideas for animation style, character design, and setting details. Discuss your visions, share inspirations, and document the outcomes to ensure everyone has a unified understanding of your project's direction.

Exhibition

Collaborate with your friend to organize a dynamic showcase of your animation in a school classroom using a projector. Enhance the exhibition experience by creating a welcoming environment where viewers can offer feedback and engage in discussions about your creative process. Prepare a brief presentation to accompany the showing, highlighting key elements like character design, voice acting choices, and special effects integration. Consider inviting school faculty and classmates to provide diverse perspectives and celebrate the effort and passion poured into your project.
