Meet with interns and mentors to collect authentic perspectives about the Junior Internship program. Conduct brief interviews to surface needs, constraints, and story ideas for your documentary concept. Create empathy artifacts such as empathy maps and simple personas to anchor your understanding of users. Generate a wide range of storytelling concepts, then sketch concept visuals or storyboards for several approaches. Build a feasibility/impact matrix to compare concepts on production effort, audience reach, and alignment with goals. Identify your Top 3 concepts with clear rationales and outline a rough prototype plan (storyboard frames or script anchors) for quick feedback from peers and, if possible, real users in the next session.

Preparation (3 items)
- Arrange a meeting with community partners and prepare questions for interviews that focus on understanding the internship experience from both intern and mentor perspectives.
- Ensure all materials for creating storyboards, such as paper, markers, and digital tools, are available and ready for use.
- Prepare examples of feasibility/impact matrices to help students understand how to evaluate their ideas effectively.
Student-facing instructions
You will review your empathy artifacts such as empathy maps and personas. Then, in small groups, brainstorm various storytelling concepts that capture different aspects of the internship experience. Develop these ideas into storyboards or sketches. Create a feasibility/impact matrix to compare the concepts. Choose your Top 3 ideas, creating a rough prototype plan. Finally, present your ideas to peers for feedback through a gallery walk.
