In small groups, interview a real user such as a car shop partner or potential go-kart rider to uncover needs for turning a salvaged motor into a safe, reliable go-kart engine. Gather empathy artifacts (notes, quotes, quick sketches) and use them to craft a Point-of-View (POV) statement, 2–3 How Might We (HMW) questions, and 1–2 user personas plus a simple problem tree or systems map that show key components, constraints, and stakeholders. Emphasize direct user contact, iterative revision, and early testing of framing with peers. Present artifacts to the class and capture feedback to guide the next design steps.
