Students will engage with local food bank representatives, examine case studies, and analyze data visualizations to understand firsthand the needs and challenges of those experiencing food insecurity in Hawaii, laying the groundwork for informed project development in subsequent phases.

Students will collaboratively define the issue of food insecurity in Hawaii through analyzing collected empathy data, mapping food deserts, and synthesizing insights from community partners to craft a clear, focused problem statement that guides their subsequent ideation phase.

Students will brainstorm diverse solutions for addressing food insecurity in Hawaii, using brainstorming techniques, sketching ideas for products like impactful posters or food diaries, and planning an impactful food drive, while collaborating with peers to create innovative strategies that they will refine in the subsequent prototyping phase.

Students will create low-fidelity prototypes of their community-driven food drive campaigns and Impact Posters, using sketches and digital tools to visualize their ideas, incorporating feedback from peers and community partners to refine their concepts for addressing food insecurity.

Students will engage with community partners and peers to test their 'Food Reality Diaries' exhibition ideas and 'Impact Posters,' gather constructive feedback to refine their presentations, and validate their solutions on food insecurity, culminating in an exhibition showcase.
