Plan
Week 1
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Activities
Project Launch and Film Screening - Begin with a 'Beauty and the Beast Movie Night' where students watch the film together. This sets the stage for identifying key themes and characters to inspire their dessert sculptures. (45 min)
Brainstorming and Sketching Session - Facilitate an interactive session where students brainstorm and sketch initial ideas for their dessert sculptures, focusing on themes from the movie and elements of French patisserie. Encourage peer feedback. (41 min)
Introduction to Patisserie Techniques - Conduct a hands-on workshop to teach basic patisserie techniques such as piping, molding, and glazing. Students will practice these skills and consider how they can be applied to their designs. (50 min)
Design Principles in Art - Explore principles of design such as balance, contrast, and emphasis through an interactive art class. Students will apply these concepts to enhance the narrative elements in their dessert sculptures. (36 min)
Design Refinement and Peer Review - Students refine their initial sketches based on feedback and integrate patisserie techniques learned. Implement a 'feedback wall' for continuous peer review and refinement of designs. (50 min)
Narrative Development Workshop - Guide students in developing the story their dessert sculptures will tell, focusing on character journeys and themes from Beauty and the Beast. Encourage students to articulate their narratives clearly. (36 min)
