Students will craft 3-5 focused and meaningful questions about bear-human interactions in Southern Berkshire. These questions should explore multiple perspectives and guide their research toward understanding and addressing the issue effectively. less

Students will write a concise proposal outlining one potential solution to mitigate bear-human interactions. This proposal should include a claim about its effectiveness, supported by evidence and reasoning gathered from their research and analysis. less

 Students will analyze existing persuasive letters and policy proposals and identify key elements that make them effective. They will document how they will adapt these features into their own letters, demonstrating their understanding of quality criteria and innovation in problem-solving.  less

Write a persuasive letter to a local legislator explaining why action is needed to address the bear overpopulation issue in the Berkshires. Use facts and evidence to support your argument, and suggest one or two specific policies or solutions the legislator could implement. Make sure your tone is respectful and your message is clear and convincing. less
