Products

Students will collaboratively create a digital magazine showcasing personal narratives that reflect the diverse cultures and stories within their local community. Each student will write and publish a personal narrative, incorporating feedback from peer review sessions to refine their work. The final product will include properly cited sources and demonstrate mastery of standard English conventions, pronoun accuracy, and punctuation. Throughout the project, students will engage with college mentors to enhance their research and writing skills, culminating in a presentation of their digital anthology to the community.

Launch

To kick off the project, invite a local storyteller or cultural historian to share personal narratives and insights about the community's diverse cultures. This engaging session will inspire students and provide a real-world context for their digital magazine and anthology projects. Following the presentation, students can participate in a guided discussion to brainstorm topics and questions they might explore in their own narratives, setting the stage for their research and writing journey.

Exhibition

At the culmination of the project, students will host a community showcase event where they present their digital magazine or anthology to peers, family, and community members. Each student will share their personal narrative, highlighting the cultural stories they've uncovered, and discuss their research process and the importance of accurate representation. The event will include interactive stations where attendees can engage with digital displays of the students' work, providing an opportunity for students to receive real-time feedback and celebrate their achievements.
