Purpose

The purpose of this learning experience is to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of wellbeing through hands-on projects that address the unique needs of the school community. Students will engage in creating initiatives that promote balanced lifestyles, utilizing technology and collaborative efforts to explore physical, emotional, and social health. By participating in workshops and discussions, students will develop critical thinking skills, self-directed learning, and a sense of belonging, ultimately enhancing their academic mindset and personal performance goals.

Learning goals

Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of wellbeing by exploring and addressing the unique needs of their school community through innovative projects. They will enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills by designing technology-based initiatives, such as apps or websites, to promote balanced lifestyles. Students will engage in self-directed learning by utilizing feedback and reflection to improve their personal health practices, focusing on nutrition and injury prevention. They will foster an inclusive environment by participating in discussions and activities that support emotional and social wellbeing, building a sense of identity and belonging.

Products

Students will create interactive multimedia presentations on balanced nutrition and injury prevention, tailored to engage their peers. They will develop a wellbeing initiative using technology, such as a mobile app or website, to promote balanced lifestyles within their school community. Additionally, students will lead mini-sessions during the 'Wellbeing Workshop Day,' showcasing their projects and facilitating discussions on fostering an inclusive environment. These projects will be displayed in a 'Gallery Walk,' where they will receive feedback for refinement.

Launch

Kick off the project with an interactive "Wellbeing Fair," where students rotate through stations led by community partners and specialists. Each station will offer hands-on activities, such as a mini dance workshop focusing on injury prevention, a nutrition smoothie-making contest, and an interactive technology corner showcasing wellbeing apps. This engaging launch will spark curiosity, set the stage for the project, and provide students with a diverse perspective on wellbeing practices.

Exhibition

Host a 'Wellbeing Workshop Day' where students present their projects through interactive mini-sessions, engaging classmates, teachers, and community partners. Each session can showcase innovative wellbeing initiatives, such as technology-driven solutions or inclusive practices, that students have developed. Encourage attendees to participate in hands-on activities, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can learn and share insights on promoting student wellbeing.
