The purpose of this project is to immerse students in the fundamentals of running a successful DJ business by engaging them in hands-on, real-world learning experiences. Students will develop technical skills in audio mixing and equipment setup, explore business strategies, and cultivate leadership qualities through collaboration with industry professionals. By working with community partners and reflecting on their learning journey, students will build self-directed learning skills, enhance their academic mindset, and apply critical thinking to solve complex problems relevant to the entertainment industry.

Products
Throughout the project, students will create a professional DJ portfolio that includes audio recordings of their mixes, a resume, and a headshot. They will also develop a personalized DJ persona, complete with a unique stage name and branding elements. By the end of the week, students will have prepared a live performance set, showcasing their technical skills and creative expression, to be presented at the 'DJ Showcase Night'. Additionally, students will maintain a reflection journal to capture their learning journey, insights, and personal growth.
Launch
Begin the project with an interactive 'DJ Discovery Day,' where students dive into various music genres and styles, experimenting with DJ equipment to understand its functionality. Encourage students to brainstorm ideas for their unique DJ personas, exploring how their musical preferences can shape their identity in the DJ world. This hands-on experience sets the stage for creative exploration and collaboration, fostering a sense of community and excitement for the upcoming project.
Exhibition
Students will culminate their DJ business project with a dynamic 'DJ Showcase Night,' where they perform live sets for an audience of peers, teachers, and community members.
