Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to investigate how different materials affect the path of light in a beam through hands-on experiments.

2

Students will be able to develop a model of light reflection and vision showing how reflected light enters the eye to make objects visible.

3

Students will be able to construct evidence-based explanations about when objects can be seen with or without illumination.

4

Students will be able to apply properties of light using lenses, mirrors, lasers, and pinhole cameras to solve simple science challenges.

5

Students will be able to reflect on feedback and revise their light investigation work to improve accuracy and clarity.

individual

Individual Light Science Notebook and Reflection Explanation

Students create a personal science notebook with investigation notes, diagrams, and a written or oral explanation of how light behaves in tested materials and how it helps us see. The product shows individual mastery of the core science ideas and includes a reflection on feedback and revisions.

team

Interactive Light Quest Science Fair Exhibit

Teams design and present an interactive exhibit that demonstrates how light interacts with materials and how light is used in tools such as mirrors, lenses, laser pointers, or pinhole cameras. The exhibit includes a clear model, a live demonstration, and an explanation for community visitors.
