Products

Students will create a multimedia presentation showcasing their chosen Kentucky author, highlighting how the author's life and work reflect the state's culture and history. They will compile a portfolio that includes a written summary of the author's themes, a creative piece inspired by the author's style, and reflections on their learning process. The project will culminate in a "Kentucky Authors Fair," where students present their findings to peers and community members, fostering a sense of place and identity.

Launch

Begin the project with a virtual or in-person visit from a local Kentucky author who can share their experiences and insights into the state's literary culture. Follow this with a class discussion where students brainstorm questions they would like to explore about Kentucky authors, focusing on themes like culture, history, and influence. Engage students in a collaborative activity to create a "Kentucky Literary Map," highlighting authors and their works, which will serve as a visual guide throughout the project.

Exhibition

Students will curate a "Kentucky Author Gallery Walk" where they display their research findings and creative interpretations of selected authors' works. Each student will create a visual presentation, such as a poster or digital slideshow, highlighting key themes, historical context, and the authors' impact on literature and society. During the gallery walk, students will engage visitors by sharing insights and answering questions, fostering a deeper understanding of Kentucky's literary heritage. This exhibition will invite peers, teachers, and family members to explore and celebrate the students' discoveries and reflections.
