Launch
Students will launch the project by investigating how ancient Egyptian chariots addressed transportation needs, analyzing a model-chariot demonstration, and establishing evidence-based expectations for designing, testing, revising, and presenting their own chariots.
Days 1 - 2
Research & Plan
Research & Plan
Students will research ancient Egyptian chariot technology, translate historical and scientific evidence into a stakeholder-centered design brief, develop and critique multiple concepts, and use a weighted decision matrix to select a testable team design.
Days 3 - 8
Build & Test
Build & Test
Students will construct a rapid model chariot, plan and conduct controlled force-and-mass tests, calculate speed, and use quantitative evidence to evaluate prototype performance before revision.
Days 9 - 13
Revise & Rehearse
Revise & Rehearse
Students will analyze prototype failures, consult a transportation-safety expert, revise and retest their chariots, and prepare evidence-based explanations for the school showcase. Teams will document whether revisions improved performance, identify remaining trade-offs, and complete a readiness review before advancing to the exhibition.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will demonstrate their optimized model chariots to an authentic audience, defend design decisions with historical and test evidence, gather feedback, and complete individual reflections on their learning and collaboration.
