Students will launch the civic history project by stepping into a current community challenge, identifying who is affected, and drafting initial user-centered questions about how historical ideas still shape democratic life today.

Students will investigate how ideas from Athens, Rome, Enlightenment thinkers, and local history connect to modern civic life, evaluate evidence from multiple sources, analyze causes behind the challenge, and use research findings to propose a strong direction for their team solution.
Days 2 - 5

Engineer
Students will turn their research into a planned, testable podcast and decision-making tool by studying strong models, making evidence-based design choices, predicting what their solution should help users understand, and documenting revision after peer review.
Days 6 - 8

Do
Students will test their civic ideas podcast and decision-making tool with real users, collect quick evidence about what listeners understand, and document results they can use to improve the solution before the public showcase.

Students will share evidence of what they created, what authentic listeners learned, and how their understanding of democracy and government traditions grew through the project.
