Students will launch the New Orleans transit modeling project, examine who experiences uneven transit access, and produce initial user-centered framing artifacts that define the challenge and guide later research.

Students will investigate New Orleans transit access through credible sources, neighborhood and ridership data, community perspectives, and polynomial modeling tools so they can identify root causes, compare route patterns, and justify a solution direction for later design work.
Days 3 - 10

Engineer
Students will turn their transit research into a workable dashboard concept by studying strong examples, defining a testable route-change hypothesis, planning their build, creating a first prototype, and revising it through structured peer and stakeholder-informed feedback.

Students will implement and test their New Orleans transit dashboard or route recommendation in a short simulation, collect evidence from users and model outputs, and use that evidence to judge effectiveness and propose revisions.
