Launch
Launch
Students will enter the project through a hands-on pop-up zine studio, analyze how independent publications create audience, voice, and visual identity, and begin framing what the first Noyo zine could become. The launch sets the creative and professional expectations for a student-run publishing collective while generating concrete observations that will feed the empathy research and editorial direction work in the next phase.
Day 1
Empathy Research
Empathy Research
Students will gather direct evidence from potential readers and contributors, test early assumptions about what a Noyo zine should be, and turn those findings into a draft editorial direction grounded in community voices rather than preference alone.
Days 2 - 5
Concept & Prototype
Concept & Prototype
Students will turn empathy research into a shared editorial direction, generate multiple zine concept options, build and test low-fidelity prototypes for layout and submissions workflow, and use two rounds of feedback to revise toward a stronger Noyo zine direction grounded in user evidence.
Days 6 - 9
Publish & Present
Publish & Present
Students will finalize the inaugural Noyo zine as a prototype-ready publication by tightening layout, copy, sequencing, permissions, pricing, and outreach materials. They will test the near-final issue with representative readers and community-facing stakeholders, revise based on evidence, and prepare a concise presentation that shows how research, editorial judgment, design iteration, and production planning shaped the publication.
Days 10 - 13
Showcase
Showcase
Students will publicly launch the inaugural Noyo zine, present the evidence and decisions behind its creation to an authentic audience, and complete a brief final reflection on their contributions, growth, and next steps for the publication's future.
