Launch
Students will enter the project by analyzing real Bronx design examples, hearing from a creative professional about critique and revision, and practicing beginner observation and empathy moves that prepare them for later interviews, problem definition, and prototyping.
Days 1 - 2
Research And Empathize
Research And Empathize
Students will gather firsthand user evidence from classmates and Bronx community contexts, organize that evidence in empathy maps, test their assumptions against what users actually say and do, and turn findings into early design constraints about audience, accessibility, and ethical communication.
Days 3 - 8
Define And Ideate
Define And Ideate
Students will turn interview notes and empathy evidence into a clear community design brief, study how local visuals communicate with different audiences, generate several distinct concept directions, and use critique to revise toward a stronger solution grounded in user needs, accessibility, and ethical design choices.
Days 9 - 13
Prototype And Present
Prototype And Present
Students will turn their design briefs and concept directions into low-fidelity prototypes, test them with peers and community-connected users, document two rounds of revision, and prepare a concise stakeholder-facing walkthrough that explains how feedback shaped their design choices.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will publicly share their Bronx community design work with peers and authentic audiences, explain how user research and revision shaped their choices, and complete a final reflection on design growth, ethical decision-making, and presentation confidence.
