Students will launch the investigation by encountering lived experiences, public health data, biology concepts, and historical context; generate possible “what if” directions; and produce an initial evidence-based inquiry question with a documented method sketch for the next phase.

Students will turn broad scenario ideas into focused, evidence-ready investigations by studying how health-access variables, biology concepts, historical context, and lived experience can support a testable question and hypothesis for their team’s alternate-future film.
Days 6 - 13
Plan & Method
Plan & Method
Students will select credible datasets and sources, define measurable variables, compare possible methods, and build a traceable investigation plan that shows how their evidence could support, complicate, or refute a health-inequity hypothesis before they begin full data collection.
Days 14 - 21
Collect & Document
Collect & Document
Students will collect, clean, and document quantitative and source-based evidence for their health inequity investigations by downloading datasets, building data dictionaries, tracking cleaning decisions, testing initial analyses, and maintaining an auditable evidence trail that can support later CER writing and film development.
Days 22 - 29
Analyze & Visualize
Analyze & Visualize
Students will analyze cleaned health datasets for patterns and anomalies, build audience-ready visualizations, test whether their evidence supports their original question and hypothesis, and turn quantitative and scientific findings into CER-style interpretations that can later anchor their mini-film narratives.

Interpret & Showcase
Students will synthesize their data analysis, historical research, and biology evidence into an evidence-based mini-film and supporting showcase materials, revise through peer and partner critique, and prepare a polished interpretation that communicates patterns, limitations, and future questions to a community audience.
Days 38 - 45
Showcase
Showcase
Students will finalize and present their evidence-based mini-films and booth displays to an authentic audience, defend their methods and conclusions with data, history, and biology evidence, gather feedback from peers and community partners, and document how their investigation changed their understanding of health inequities and future scenarios.
