Students will enter the bridge challenge through a hands-on flood relief simulation, begin using the bridge test scorecard, and identify the measurable criteria and constraints that will guide later research, concept generation, testing, and revision.

Students will investigate bridge needs for flood relief, study existing bridge approaches, and turn that evidence into a team design brief with measurable criteria, constraints, and an initial research-backed plan for later concept selection and prototyping.

Decide & Prototype
Students will compare multiple bridge concepts with evidence, choose a design using a weighted decision matrix, and build a rapid prototype that is ready for controlled testing with the bridge scorecard.

Test Revise & Showcase
Students will test bridge prototypes with a shared scorecard, analyze cargo load, span success, and cost efficiency across repeated trials, revise one design feature at a time, and prepare evidence-based explanations of how their bridge improved and where limits remain.

Showcase
Students will present their tested flood relief bridge models to an authentic audience, use scorecard evidence and design artifacts to justify engineering decisions, and reflect on how repeated testing and revision improved performance under constraints.
