Launch
Launch
Students will enter the project through a hands-on museum-style launch, investigate artifacts and maps to spark historical questions, and begin organizing themselves as exhibit teams for a longer inquiry into how cultures shape places over time.
Days 1 - 2
Launch Question Plan
Launch Question Plan
Students will investigate artifact and map clues, refine a focused historical question, draft a hypothesis, and build a peer-reviewed research plan for collecting evidence that will later become exhibit labels, maps, and family-facing museum pieces.
Days 3 - 8
Collect Document Evidence
Collect Document Evidence
Students will gather and document evidence from sources, oral histories, maps, and artifact investigations; test the traceability of their notes and draft labels through critique; and revise exhibit materials so their future claims are grounded in clear, cited evidence.
Days 9 - 13
Analyze Exhibit Findings
Analyze Exhibit Findings
Students will analyze patterns in their source sets, compare how different cultures influenced a state or country over time, revise exhibit pieces through critique, and prepare evidence-based conclusions, portfolio pages, and family-facing explanations for the Heritage Hallway Walk.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their completed Heritage Hallway Walk exhibits to families, peers, and invited community partners, explain how different cultures shaped their chosen place over time using evidence from sources and artifact studies, and complete a short curated portfolio reflection that documents revision, growth, and remaining questions.
