Students will begin the bug hotel project by noticing where bugs might live in the garden, exploring real natural materials, and using picture-supported choices to talk about what bugs need in a safe home.
Day 1
Research & Plan
Research & Plan
Students will observe where bugs live, move, and hide in the garden, use pictures and simple talk to notice what bugs need, and turn those observations into a shared plan for a bug hotel.
Days 2 - 4
Prototype & Share
Prototype & Share
Students will turn garden observations and bug-needs evidence into quick bug hotel ideas, build and test a low-fidelity prototype with natural materials, and revise it using peer and garden-helper feedback before a brief readiness check for the showcase.
Days 5 - 7
Showcase
Showcase
Students will share the finished class bug hotel with garden helpers, use picture cards and photos to explain how it helps bugs live in the garden, and show what they learned through a brief happy-or-sad habitat check and circle-time celebration.
