Launch
Launch
Students will launch the investigation by collecting first evidence about local water quality, comparing it to community examples, and choosing team directions for later testing, mapping, and public communication work.
Days 1 - 2
Question & Plan
Question & Plan
Students will turn early observations into focused investigation questions, build background knowledge about freshwater limits and local water systems, compare possible testing methods, and create a reliable team sampling plan for clarity, temperature, and pH before moving into field data collection.
Days 3 - 8
Collect & Verify
Collect & Verify
Students will carry out their water investigations, document traceable evidence from each sample, compare results for consistency, and revise testing procedures so later analysis is based on reliable data.
Days 9 - 13
Analyze & Share
Analyze & Share
Students will turn collected water evidence into graphs, explanations, and audience-ready messages by analyzing patterns, checking claims against sources, revising team products with feedback, and preparing a community-friendly water quality map and public service campaign for the final showcase.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their Hudson Valley water quality maps, student-made testing stations, and public service campaigns to community guests, then use audience and teacher feedback to reflect on evidence, communication, and next steps for protecting local water.
