Teams complete a card sort with scenes from stories, real events, and short response statements, then use accountable talk stems to compare how people respond when a right is threatened. The teacher models a simple compare-and-contrast chart and highlights vocabulary such as theme, evidence, fairness, safety, and respect just before students need it in discussion. Students end with a brief stop-and-jot about how stories and real events help them understand why rights matter.
