Students examine sample source sets that include counselor comments, student leader interview notes, campus maps, schedules, handbooks, and one weak or outdated source. Using a class checklist for reliability, relevance, and point of view, they build a short report naming which primary and secondary sources they will use, which they will reject, and why. The report becomes the team's research plan for the rest of the phase.
