Students rotate through a California map challenge, park photo mystery, and card sort using simple physical maps, political maps, landscape photos, captions, and visitor-action cards. In small groups, they place parks into likely geographic regions, notice landforms and habitat clues, and sort actions that help or harm park spaces. Groups record at least three observations and two wonderings on chart paper to launch the driving questions.
