🗳️ 2008 Issues Source Lab

Select and evaluate sources Engage and critique perspectives Synthesize sources or findings CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.11-12.1 CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.11-12.3 TH:Re9.HS3.c Submission Required

Students examine a curated set of speeches, debate excerpts, campaign ads, headlines, polling snapshots, and secondary accounts from 2008. In pairs, they test source relevance, purpose, bias, and reliability, then sort evidence into possible issue strands such as the economy, war, health care, race, youth turnout, or campaign strategy. The teacher models a source-tracking method just before students begin building their own investigation records.
