Students study two model historical argument maps on civil disobedience and trace how a central claim branches into sub-claims, evidence, warrants, and counterargument. The teacher models how a weak thesis becomes a nuanced claim such as patriotic, criminal, or both by adding historical conditions and source-based limits.
