Students examine mentor paragraphs that integrate quotations from foundational U.S. documents, textbook excerpts, Zinn, speeches, and historical accounts with signal phrases and source framing. They then audit their own source analysis log and essay draft for citation accuracy, source credibility notes, and whether each quotation is introduced in a way that signals perspective or bias.
